In the last several weeks, we worked on perception skills and decision making playing the right way, looking to intercept when the opponent is off balance, taking time away is just as important as hitting hard, various situational play,
patterns using the forehand, developing feel, learning how to warm up properly in a co-operating setting, opening up the court, different types of serves, return consistency, open stance, slices and drop shots, going from defense to offense, running down balls, etc, etc. In other words, we are learning a lot and I am happy to say making great strides.
Practice is exhausting. It is tiring. It is challenging. That is why it is super important that players bring 100% of their energy to practice. Therefore, proper nutrition pre and post training and getting at least 8 hours of sleep everyday is important.
So, moving forward to the next five weeks, we will build weapons which we started last week and will continue to sharpen the tools, and to hit with more open stance when moving laterally to help with faster recovery and power. We will integrate all the lessons from the past weeks during group competition.
We also created a ladder to ensure the players stay competitive. There will be new match up every week to be completed by Sunday. The match format is 3 full sets must be completed. If won 2 straight sets, 1 point is rewarded. The third set carries a value of 1 point. If players each won one set, then each player is rewarded with 1 point. The third set is rewarded with 1 point. The maximum points a player can win is 2.
That is it for this week, folks.
As always, comments are welcome.
